And I don’t just do Pilates, it's just the glue that holds together all the other things I like to do. It’s my mental gymnastics, my emotional outlet, and pretty much the most fun and challenging form of exercise I have ever done.
Yet I normally don’t do it every day. It complements the other movement activities that I enjoy - walking, swimming, biking, hiking, dancing, yoga, and lifting weights. Doing Pilates 2-3 times per week keeps me balanced, strong, and graceful.
How it all started:
In 2012, I left corporate America after the untimely death of my mother. My life before that time was one of mundane routine, feeling disgust for the corporate machine, and looking through self-imposed prison bars wondering what it might be like to live a life of passion, freedom, and joy.
At that time, I had no idea what direction in which to travel. And so for a time, I just sat. My head began to clear. I remember being surprised at how blue the sky was and how lovely the bird song was. With the sitting came a desire to create, a fierce desire to be healthy and well, and to help others do the same.
In 2014, around that spark, my studio was born. It is a place of mindfulness, joy, curiosity, and excellence. A place of community, acceptance, and exploration.
